…TRIAL after TRIAL after TRIAL! Sheesh. But praise Jesus for the trails. What an opportunity it is to grow in character! Hallelujah! (That’s not what I was saying during the numerous trials I went through today, but I’m over it now)
Okay. I’ve really been taking this book writing seriously. I feel that God has impressed an urgency to finish the book on my heart - like never before. I’ve known for quite some time that I was supposed to write a book, but every time I’d try to start - I’d hit a wall. This time - it’s FLOWING! Memories, stories, people, situations…they’re just popping up left and right. So far I only have 22 pages written, but hey, it’s only been a few weeks. My goal is to be finished up within the next three months. I’ve had quite a few people encourage me and give me some very wise input.
Anyway, I haven’t even gotten to the ‘good stuff’ yet. I just finished writing about the time when I got shot in the drive by…I have a LONG way to go. What’s hard is making up names for people so that I don’t use their real names without their permission or use a persons name and incriminate them by writing certain things (like criminal activity) especially pertaining the gang days. Then keeping track of what name I used for who.
Then there’s the celebrities I knew and hung out with - I’m not exactly sure how to talk about them but describing them in such a way that you’d have to be completely out of it not to know who I’m talking about. Could I get sued for that, even if I didn’t use their name? I’ll need to get an editor who knows what they’re doing, for sure. Right now, I’ll just continue concentrating on writing.
Over the weekend, Daryl’s brother Floyd and his now wife, Stephanie got married and we spent three nights with the family. It was great! Especially Daryl’s mom. She’s wonderful. We took her on the subway to Hollywood from Universal City after we ate at the Hilton seafood buffet (yum yum) and I introduced her to Sephora - she fell in love with the place! The wedding Staurday was beautiful and the reception at Rive Gauche was awesome!
We didn’t get home until after midnight so I just stayed up before the prostitute outreach (more like pimp outreach) and wrote some of the book. Then at 2am we left to pick up our friend Bobby in Hollyood before meeting with two of the main pimps in the Valley. I won’t go into it now, but we are possibly going to go into legal business with the pimps - it’s a total God idea, it sounds crazy without saying how it’ll work but my hands are hurting and I’ll have to write more about it later!
Today I didn’t do any writing on the book - instead I felt almost the entire day at the County Hospital again, second time this month. It’s long story but basically I applied for medi-cal in September and I had a jerk of a case worker (I think he was just in a bad mood, didn’t like me and it was almost the end of the day) who didn’t even take my application because in his words, “It’s not even worth me taking the application because you don’t meet the requirements - just keep the application for your records.” He pretty much pushed me out the door. That’s the short version.
Well I was pretty bummed (even cried) after waiting for almost 5 hours just to see the guy at quarter to 5pm. I’ve never applied for medi-cal before and I don’t know my ‘rights’ as a patient but one of the other workers there talked to me about the situation and told me to write a complaint cause other people have had problems with him too.
Last time I went to ATP (Ability to Pay) at the County Hospital I was told that my Medical was ‘pending’ when in fact the case worker guy had rejected or denied me right on the spot. The woman at ATP said that he couldn’t do that and he must send a letter denying me and telling me why. So until that happened, I couldn’t apply for ATP or ORSA (I forgot what that stands for but it’s where you don’t have to pay for your medical care if you meet the requirements) until I received a ‘denied’ letter in the mail.
Daryl had no problem getting ORSA so we went home. About a day later, I get the deny letter in the mail. Now today, I go to apply for ORSA again because it showed on the computer at the clinic I was sent to that my medi-cal was denied so I had to go back and apply for ORSA.
So today after seeing the doctor in the ER to get some more diabetes insipidus medicine before I ran out (it’s $300.00 a month generic) we go to the ATP building and wait for about 4 hours in line to see the same woman I saw last time. (Who is very nice, by the way) This time when she pulled my name up it came up as me “not complying with the medi’cal rules and withdrawing my application” (baloney) so because I have not complied - I was not able to apply for ANYTHING at all. I could not get ORSA, and would have to try to go back and apply for medi-cal again.
By this time I was so tired from being up all night (I couldn’t sleep - pain) and at the hospital by 5:30am - I started crying. I didn’t understand how I did not comply when the case worker did not even take my application! The woman was apologetic and it so happened that her supervisor was there and heard what we were talking about and he came and talked to me. He ended up sending me over to another building (trailer, actually) across campus andsaid to talk to them over there ad if they had any questions to call him.
So on our way we went. On the way over there, I was sick or carrying my backpack and decided to put it in the van and just take my ID with me along with the paperwork the supervisor guy gave me. On the fairly long walk, all of my cards (drivers license, debit card, gift card, business cards) fell out along the way and luckily some woman pointed out to us that I was losing my cards. Sheesh, They were everywhere. I found a few right away - but not my license. We went up and dow the street looking under cars, in the grass…thankfully some lady called out to me and asked, “Are you Laurie?” waving my drivers license. Hallelujah! She said, “God was looking out for you!” Amen to that!
When we finally got to the trailer and I met with a worker there she told me that I would have to go back to the place where I applied for medi-cal. I explained to her what happened with the case worker and she quietly shared that she looked it up on the computer and she actually knew the guy and she said that I should insist that I talk to his supervisor instead of him or get a different case worker. She was so nice, and it was weird but it seems like quite a few people have had problems with this particular case worker.
Oh, before this, I forgot to mention that almost immediately after I saw the doctor and was discharged - I went to the bathroom and was in so much pain - somehow I had gotten a bladder infection somewhere along the way! So I was in excruciating pain the rest of the time I was at the hospital. Thankfully again, I had an old bottle of unfinished antibiotics for a bladder infection. Thank You Jesus! Oh - and the only time I didn’t hurt was while I started talking to an old dope fiend about the Lord - he even gave me his address so I could send him a DVD.
One thing after another. Sheesh. But God is so good….I believe the guy we witnessed to will be saved in Jesus’ Name!
