Cambodia Killing Fields

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008
Unfortunately, the photos I took at the Genocide Museum are pretty lame. They were taken with my camera phone, and you can see the reflection from behind me on most. But just looking at the pictures, you get the idea. Honestly, you probably wouldn't want to see some of the pictures clearly, in detail. Like the one with a guys face blown off. Or some of the ones with the fried bodies after being electrocuted and killed on these metal beds. I felt so ignorant when we visited the museum. When I was a student, I hated history... but now I kind of wish I would have paid better attention in school. This stuff is definitely something that we should… Read More

Sick, jet lag, spiritual attack or all of the above?

Monday, January 21st, 2008
Okay, I've been in bed all day today again. It's weird - I was somewhat okay yesterday - still felt a little strange, but okay. Then last night I started having all these bad thoughts and got really depressed and wished that I had said things differently when I shared my testimony and all these "should have's" kept coming up and pretty soon I couldn't sleep because by this time my stomach was rocking and in pain - I got hit with a wave of nausea and thought I was going to throw up but thankfully I didn't. My nose is running like a faucet and my sinuses are all messed up which is probably why I've had a headache also... today I have been so tired… Read More

It's good to be home…

Friday, January 18th, 2008
But honestly, it's a bit of a downer too. I suppose that I'm a little (or a LOT) jet lagged - I've been in bed all day until about 5pm (granted, it's like 10:30am in Bangkok right now) but I had no problem sleeping all night last night since around 7:30pm. It's just such a difference - coming from such warm (hot - 85-100 degrees F) weather (to 20+ degrees colder) and although it was pretty poverty stricken - the atmosphere was so much more pleasant... I can't put my finger on it - but I think it may also partly be because I didn't have any 'responsibility' while I was in Bangkok - I mean - we had LOTS of stuff to do while there, a schedule and… Read More

Cambodia was AMAZING!

Friday, January 18th, 2008
(I wrote this while I was still in Bangkok but couldn't post it while I was there) Well, today we're flying back to LAX. Praise God!!! :) But honestly, I will really miss this place. I DEFINITELY want to come back, and bring Daryl and my sister Ashley too. I have so much to say and I have absorbed so much - I wouldn't even know where to start! We did SO MUCH in such a short amount of time - I am so ready to go home. This morning I've decided to spend alone, as well as last night when we got back from Cambodia. I wish so bad that I could speak Thai - as well as the Cambodian language. I LOVE the people here, and wish that I could communicate with… Read More

BANGKOK!!!

Friday, January 11th, 2008
I'm at an internet cafe outside of our hotel. I made it on the LONG flight and I am writing about my trip as much as I can in my journal, which I'll share when I get back to the states. So far, I haven't gotten sick (praise God, thank you for all your prayers) - maybe some jet lag and a sore throat but I think that's from the air conditioning in our room. Last night we went on outreach and I was able to speak with a few girls - man, I can't wait to tell you what it's like here and what we've… Read More

Only 5 More Days (Sunday) till I Leave for Bangkok!!!

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008
Well, I think it's finally starting to hit me that I'm leaving in five days!!! Arrrgh! So I think I'm pretty much ready, as much as I can be - I called the bank and told them that I'll be in Bankok between January 6th till the 16th and in Cambodia sometime between... so I can use my debit and Visa cards without getting them blocked. Hopefully I won't even need to spend much while I'm there - I'm not planning on shopping, but hey, I'm a female, what can I say - even though I'm not much of a shopper here in LA (except for the dogs) who knows what I'll see over there...someone said that they have doggie clothes in Bangkok...lol! I bought mosquito… Read More
