LAST NIGHT'S PROSTITUTE OUTREACH 12/15/07

Last night it was me, Sarah, and Mike and Ishmael, two guys from Harbor City. After we prayed at the office, we head out and on our way to the freeway, we saw a prostitute walking on the boulevard so we pulled over. Sarah also noticed some guys hanging out across the street from the office…possibly some pimps.

I got out of the car and approached the girl – she was so pretty – I mean, really. I asked her if I could give her a gift – and handed her a gift bag (the bags we brought were all “Christmasy”, with red and green, snowflakes and Christmas trees etc. She looked disappointed, and said that she didn’t have anywhere to put it – that she couldn’t take it. I asked, “Oh, are you working?” She answered “yes” – then she asked if she could get my number, and entered it in her phone. I told her that I used to prostitute too, and she seemed surprised. She asked why I stopped and I told her because Jesus delivered me and I have a relationship with Him now.

She seemed surprised.I asked her if she knew Jesus and she said “Yeah, she goes to church…” There was a guy coming down the block and she seemed concerned, I asked if that was her pimp – she said “No” – after we drove away we saw them together though so who knows. But had given the same guy a pimp tract in the parking lot before we caught up with the girl. :) (We could tell he was pimpin’ by his dress, car and manner)

Then we went back and parked where the ‘guys’ were hanging out – Sarah saw someone she knew and Mike, Ishmael and I noticed a nice car with two guys sitting in it. I walked up to the car and introduced myself – noticing two girls in the back seat. One had on a fur coat. I asked them if I could give them a gift, and one said, “What kind of gift?” Then she said, “What’s in it?” (Very cold like) I told them to wait, I’d be right back, and ran to the car to grab a couple of bags.

On my way back – the girls must have saw me carrying the bags all Christmasy – because by the time I got to the car their attitudes had completely changed and they were all friendly and excited to get the bags! It was SO COOL to see that! They were all nice and smiling. I asked their names – U***** and K***, and soon after that they thanked me and drove away.

Next, after getting gas, we headed toward Compton. When we got there, we saw two cops parked in the drive through at the 24 hour hamburger joint. (Not good for us, or the girls) We wanted to get to talk to the girls before the cops scared them away!

While sarah and I got some bags together, Mike and Ishmael went to talk to all the guys hanging out in the parking lot. Those guys are so awesome! :) It is so obvious that they love Jesus and people so much – it is so cool to se especially cause one could tell that they definitely have a past…(weren’t raised ichurch boys) Sarah and I noticed some pimps in the parking lot too – so we went to talk to them. One of them recognized me right away – at first I didn’t recognize him cause he changed his hair quite a bit. He reminded me who he was!

Then he asked if we would give him two bags for his grandma and auntie! I told him that the bags were for the girls. He laughed and said that he was just going to get some roses and put them with the bags and say “Merry Christmas!” Lol! He said, “Hey man, I seen what’s in them bags – it’s good stuff!!!”

Then another pimp walked up and asked if I remembered him – and I did – I didn’t remember his name, but his face…he said we met at the (pimp) donut shop and at the 99 Cents store – like quite a while back. Trip!!!

Then cops pulled up and told everyone they had to leave.

We headed out for the street, and saw at least 8-10 girls. Ishmael and Sarah took one side of the street, and Mike and I took the other side.

The first girl we talked to was a white girl who honestly looked about 16 – 17 tops. She took a bag but wasn’t too open to talk. She did say that she’d only been out there for about a month. The second two girls were older, and they took bags…I was able to talk to one of them for a bit (she went by “Honey”) – she said what they all say – “This is only temporary, I’m not gonna do this for very long…”

The next girl we talked to looked very young – she said that her name was “Honey” too. I asked her how old she was and she said 19. SHe looked about 16…

Then we saw a girl we see pretty regularly – she was the third “Honey”. She talked with us for a bit – said that she keeps everything we give her, that she’s been trying to read the book (New Believers New Testament) and she said that she almost always gets one of the bags with a Target gift card! :)

She shared that (again) she was only going to work (prostitute) for a little while, until she gets a regular job..I asked if she had a pimp, and she said, “Oh NO – I have a boyfriend….” She also said that she had a one year old son, and that she takes care of her sister because both of her parets are in jail – that her dad has been in jail her whole life.

The whole time we were talking, there were johns (clients) driving by, over and over. I was busy taking with “Honey” – and Mike was keeping aware of what was going on around us. Cops were driving around too – and the girls all started disappearing. Honey said her goodbyes too.

When I turned around, this one guy in a red car who had been circling around was pulled over down the block. We saw him get shackled up and put into a squad car. A wile later, we saw a tow truck come and get the guys car. Sarah Ishmael and mkie saw two other johns get taken away too. (I missed it) The cops didn’t arrest any girls.

That’s about it…I’m pooped and sleepy and ready for bed. We prayed out and headed for home. It was awesome having Mike and Ishmael go out with us, and I’m hoping that they can go back out to that track with they’re team some time when we can’t make it out there or maybe even during the week…we’ll see what happens, God’s will be done.

Goodnight…
