Bangkok in 11 days…
Well, there are still a lot of things I need to do before going to Bangkok! I can’t believe it’s only 11 days away!!! Hope you all had a blessed, awesome Christmas. Ours was quiet, we drove to Santa Monica with the doggies, spent some time on the pier and at the Promenade. We spent the 23rd at my dad’s house (attached picture) – Dad, Daryl, me, Shawn (my sister Tracy’s husband) Tracy and Bethany (my younger, half sister) and Pablo and Ziggy. (And of course my dad’s wife, Diane who took the picture.) I realized that I didn’t include the blog I wrote about us getting Ziggy back on this website. Yes, Ziggy is with us again – for good. We had his (ex) owner sign a paper giving up his ownership rights so we don’t have to go through what we did last time ever again!!!
We (our team) is leaving on the Sunday, the 6th of January. I still have to get a suitcase from my dad, and I ordered a passport carrier (the kind you put around your neck) online this morning so hopefully it will get here in time…I didn’t know where else to look for them. Unfortunately I am notorious for misplacing, forgetting and losing things – so having everything important tied around my neck is the best thing for me.
It still hasn’t hit me that I’ll be flying across the world to another country in less than two weeks…like I’ve said before, I’ve never been out of the country before – the farthest I’ve ever been is probably Hawaii or Florida. Don’t care for traveling at all – it totally stresses me out and I usually get sick when I get on (and off) an airplane. So this is a REAL STRETCH for me!!!
I truly believe that the Lord is going to do amazing things while we are there. So far, there are five of us women that met last week that will be going, and two from out of state that we will meet at the airport I believe.
For me personally, I believe that God wans to do something in me – break me… sometimes I feel like I get so calloused from the things I see and the people we deal with every week, many times people that know Jesus and are so unrepentant and don’t feel they’re doing anything wrong – or KNOW they’re doing wrong but don’t care or have any fear of God or of the consequences for their actions.
Bangkok will be an entirely different environment than LA, physically and ESPECIALLY spiritually. I’m sure there will be things there that I have never seen or care to see and then beautiful things as well. But one thing I feel, deep in my spirit – is that the Lord is having me go there more to work on me, to do something in me – than anything else.
Charity (who heads up Nightlight in here in LA) said that there will be morning times of prayer and devotion, as well as a time of testimony when we’re with the women that are staying at Nightlight in Bangkok, and I will share my experiences with the women to somewhat “de-glamourize” being in Hollywood…and letting them know that being a prostitute here is NOT like what they see in movies like “Pretty Woman.”
We will also have times of ‘touristy’ stuff, so we won’t get depressed only going to the red light district… we’ll have times to go shopping (for what, I have no idea) and we will also visit Cambodia for two days and see the “Killing Fields”…
Like I said, I don’t think it’s hit me yet that I’m going away – I really need people to pray for me cause I dn NOT want to get ill while I’m there. No bedbugs (or any other bugs) either!!! I feel so unprepared and I know that I will miss Daryl and my doggies SO MUCH – I’ll have to call them every day!!!
Please also pray for our team to be in unity, that the Lord will move mightily through us, that we will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and quick to obey His leading. Protection from the spiritual attacks that are inevitable – again, especially protection of our HEALTH while we are there, protection from any foods that may be contaminated, etc!
Deliverance for the captives, for discernment, that we would only say and do what God wants us to say and not speak or do anything out of ourselves…and blessings, blessings…that we would be a blessing to those we come in contact with while we are there. Oh! And on the airplane too – divine appointments on our flights, and wherever we go in Jesus’ Name!
Thank you so much, and HAPPY, BLESSED, NEW YEAR!
