Prostitute called me…
Remember the 17 year old girl I talked to on Friday on outreach who
went by the nickname, ‘Y**’? Well, she just called me a few
minutes ago.
She asked me if I remembered her (of course I do) and then she said
that she was wondering what it is that I do. I told her that because
of what Jesus has done in my life (delivering me from heroin/drug
addiction and prostitution which I’d shared briefly when we met) that
I want to reach out to women (and men) who are living in the same kind
of lifestyle I was.
It was a blessing, I asked her if she had a relationship with Jesus,
and she said that she used to – I asked her if she knew that He died
for her sins, so that by accepting Him in her heart she could have a
relationship with God etc. and she said she knew all that. I asked her
where she thought God was in her life right now, and she said that she
didn’t know.
I shared with her that if she accepted Jesus in her heart that He is
still with her – He loves her… I told her that while I was turning
tricks I thought that God could never love me and that He would never
take me back… but I know now that He never stopped loving me and He
never left me…
We talked about her pimp – he isn’t her boyfriend, she had another
pimp before – this pimp has 3 other girls… they don’t all live
together. She said that she was at ‘home’ (not her parents – at her
pimps place) and I asked her if she was allowed to leave, and she said
yes, but not now… he wasn’t there while we were on the phone
though…
On a side note – I got the impression that she is pretty much with him
not by ‘choice’ like most of the other girls we meet – but by force…
she told me before that she didn’t have anywhere to go. So maybe this
is her only option right now… maybe she can’t go home – maybe her
parents (more likely one parent) is either abusive or is on drugs…
I asked her if her pimp abused her, and she sort of nervously laughed
- I said sort of nonchalantly that “well, we both know that that goes
with the territory – they all do at some point or another” and she
said, “Yeah, I’ve gotten ‘chopped’ a few times”…
She is really sort spoken and sweet – and YOUNG… my heart breaks for
her. I asked her if she wanted to get out of the life that we could
help her – she said she wasn’t ready yet… but that she’d keep my
number.
Her pimps name (handle) is ***. I asked her if she was calling from
her number and she said “No, it’s my ‘daddy’s’ (pimps) number -
whatever you do don’t call this number.”
So… all I can do is pray for her and pray that she’ll have the guts
to get out and away from ‘***’ sometime soon. I hope so. I hope that
we will see her again when we’re out on the street again too. If we
do, I want to ask her if she wants us to take her off the street,
right then and there. She’s a minor – her 18th birthday is in April of
next year. Maybe Children of the Night could take her… I don’t know.
All I know is that if she wants to get out of there, I want to be able
to get her out.
How does something like this work? I mean – we can’t take her to a
program like the Dream Center unless we get her parents permission -
and we ourselves could get in trouble for keeping a minor… sheesh. I
don’t want the cops to pick her up either, or have her get taken to a
home where things may be just as bad if not worse than where she is
now. Or if she ends up back with *** if we take her somewhere where
they can’t help her or where she ends up leaving and she goes back to
him – the consequences could be fatal.
Please pray for ‘Y**’ and this situation…
