Prostitute outreach

This will be short (I think) cause we didn’t get home till about 6:30
this morning and I didn’t sleep after we got home because our next
door neighbor was moving and was making tons of noise…so needless to
say, I’m exhausted – ready for bed.

So, it was quiet last night – we did a lot of praying before we went
out – then we drove around – it was Daryl, me, Fred and Reymundo.
Since it was three guys and me – we didn’t think it would be a good
idea for us to go to the Long Beach area.

We went to the Valley instead. We only saw a couple of girls out – and
one particular girl – a white girl – was being followed down the
street by a pimp in a car – obviously troubled. Daryl pulled over
around the corner so I could get out of the car and I ran over to
where she was.

The pimp kept trying to talk to her, and she kept trying to avoid him
- so I tried to distract him by waving and saying “hi!” to him (I’m
such dork) – he didn’t want anything to do with me, but at least he
drove away.

That gave me time to talk to the girl, which she called herself
“Strawberry” – she asked me what I wanted and I told her that I wanted
to give her a gift bag and she asked why, and I told her to show her
that God loved her and tell her that she is special. She looked at me
a little strange and said thanks and then another pimp (different one)
pulled up and started following us as we walked so I walked up to his
car and said, “Hi! How are you doing! What’s your name?” He asked,
“What’s MY name?” “What’s your name?” “My name’s Laurie! (big smile)
How ya doing?” (He looked at me so crazy, it was so funny, it was like
he was in shock) “Wow, you’re a really nice person – I don’t meet very
nice people out here, you’re a very nice person.” “Well thank you! God
bless you!” “You too, have a good night…” He drove off and didn’t
come back.

Anyway, we saw another third pimp, driving around, and then the first
one came back around – and I waved at him again and smiled – and
Strawberry was scared. I told her that I’d walk with her until they
stopped trying to mess with her. I shared with her that I used to
prostitute, and she shared that she didn’t want to do that but she had
kids she need to take care of them…and then Daryl walked up and told
her that he was my husband. We asked her if she had a relationship
with Jesus Christ and she said yes, and she let us pray for her.

We told her that there are options for her to get out of the
lifestyle, and gave her my number to call when she wants to get out.
She doesn’t have a pimp, which explained why the three pimps were so
persistent trying to get to her.

Oh man I’m so sleepy but I gotta finish this… okay – we went back to
Hollywood, drove around – were about to finish up when we saw another
couple of girls – pulled over and I got out of the car – this time the
girl was Asian – there were a couple of johns waiting to talk to her -
I had a bag – she looked at me weird and asked what I wanted, and I
told her my name and gave her the bag, asked why I was giving it to
her – I explained the same thing I explained to Strawberry – and the
girl softened up a bit.

I shared with her that I used to prostitute, and she said she was sick
of it, she had a bad night, Daryl walked up, explained he was my
hubby, the girl said her name was “Talina” (I think – something like
that) and we asked if we could pray for her and she said okay. After
praying, we asked if she knew Jesus, and she said no, that she was a
Buddist. We invited her to church anyway, and she said that she’d like
to come. So we gave her a flyer for Reality LA. After we were walking
away, she was on her cell phone with her boyfriend (pimp?) and I heard
her say, “Hi babe, I just met this really nice lady, and she invited
me to church. She doesn’t want me to be out on the street…” That’s
all I heard before I got back in the car.

Anyway, I’m pooped. We only saw a couple of girls, but the girls we
did see were divine appointments, for sure. Thank You Lord!!! :)
