It's not our fault!!!
We know that the LORD is our defender. We don’t have to defend
ourselves. So why am I? I think after all that has and is still
happening – for future reference – people need to be made aware of
this.
Anyone who knows me pretty well knows that although I try my best to
only do what God would have me do and not act out in my flesh or make
stupid decisions, I am human and make mistakes. God convicts me when I
do, and He also convicts me to apologize or admit my faults and
although it doesn’t feel good having to do it, all I want is to be
right with my Lord and to do what pleases Him…and to be at peace
with people whenever it is possible to do so on my part.
But this bed bug thing is NOT me and Daryl’s FAULT! Although most
people have been supportive, I’ve had a couple of well intentioned
Christians tell me to just ‘rebuke’ or ‘take authority’ over the bugs
and ask God if we have done something we need to confess…
Okay, I am ALL FOR taking authority over this situation and I believe
that God is in control – He made the bugs, He can stop them from doing
whatever if He chooses to do so. Trust me, Daryl and I have prayed,
rebuked, taken authority over, etc etc. and even asked God if we did
something to deserve this since it’s happened.
The bugs were there before we got there. The apartment manager
yesterday tried to say that I was making too big of a deal about this
- that he checks his bed all the time (why in the world would someone
have to check their bed ‘all the time’ if it wasn’t a concern?) and he
doesn’t have any bugs (YET) because HE”S CLEAN. My flesh wanted to
punch him. I asked him what he was trying to say, and he said that he
wasn’t saying that we weren’t clean, but that the people on the fifth
floor where the bugs started ‘collected’ a lot of stuff. Maybe that’s
true, but regardless – if he had done his job and exterminated right
away – maybe the bugs wouldn’t have spread the way they have.
They’ve been spraying themselves instead of getting a REAL
exterminator. When I told them about the bugs they had the spray to
‘fumigate’ ON SITE – obviously, they knew about this problem.
The bugs just haven’t made their way to the first floor where he is.
They started on the fifth floor and the fourth have them too, so it’s
only a matter of time – and having them has NOTHING to do with you
clean or dirty a person is. Places on Park Avenue have them! Besides
that – WE ARE CLEAN – even though since this happened I FEEL dirty -
this really sucks, alll of our clothes are at the cleaners, I’ve had
two pairs of pants and two shirts that I’ve been alternating since
Saturday, at least I have underwear…
A few people have been so kind as to offer to let us stay at their
place for a night or two – but they don’t understand – I woke up
yesterday AND today freaked out because I think I have a couple more
bites…Daryl worked at the apartment Monday and may have brought some
to the motel…I wouldn’t wish these bugs on my worst enemy except
maybe Satan himself…I’ve had to check everything, over and over -
toss the bed, ask the housekeeper to change the sheets…
The ‘nymphs’ are so small you need a magnifying glass to see them, the
eggs can be on furniture, bags, alarm clocks, picture frames – same
with the bugs themselves… I know that I hate bugs so I can be a
little more drama than some people, but seriously, UNLESS YOU HAVE
PERSONALLY GONE THROUGH THIS YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH those of you who have offered to let us stay with
you. But until I can, without a shadow of a doubt – promise that we
would not bring anything into your home – we will continue to stay in
a motel. We would never forgive ourselves if someone else had to go
through this because we stayed with them. I had one woman write to me
and share that she’d never even seen a roach or rat in the house she’s
lived in for 12 years – but somehow she got bed bugs. She has no idea
how. She’s had to move from her bedroom to her den and today she is
getting an exterminator to give her an estimate.
Another man wrote to me and told about how much of a huge problem he
had with the bugs when a tenant brought the bugs in and eventually
they infested the whole building. He’s spent over $10,000 to hopefully
be rid of the bugs for sure. He said that he tried exterminating but
the bugs came back, this last time the exterminator used heat, 140
degress – to fry the bugs cause the eggs don’t die with spray.
I am not going to stop doing what I would normally do as much as
possible – I’m still praying and fasting for G and will try to
visit him tomorrow of Friday, we’re still going to do outreach Friday
- Satan is a punk but GOD IS SO MUCH BIGGER than anything the enemy
can throw our way!!!
I’m sort of venting – Please continue praying for us. I will NOT get
bitter in Jesus’ Name. I choose not to. But I’ll admit that I have had
to take this before the Lord more than a few times. I just need to
leave it with Him. Thanks for your prayers.
For all you ‘superspritual’ people who haven’t had to go through this
yourselves – keep your opinions to yoursleves too. PLEASE.
