Conversation with G…
Well, yesterday Charity and I had such an interesting conversation with G! We took him to lunch, and as we were talking, I asked him if I could ask him a question. He laughed and said okay. (He knows me pretty well so he knew that it would probably be a more ‘personal’ question.)
So I asked him, “What exactly is your job as a pimp?” This led to a discussion about a whole bunch of other stuff – stripping, porn, prostitution etc. I don’t have time to go into all of it – I have to go to the dentist and get a root canal in a bit. 
Yuk!!! (NOT looking forward to that)
But he shared about how every occupation needs a manager or someone to support them, and that’s sort of what a pimp does…we also talked about different kinds of pimps – ‘gorilla’ pimps, which he doesn’t agree with. Gorilla pimps are the ones who are violent with the girls and make them prostitute by force… whereas ‘finesse players’ (like G) are talkers (and can probably talk a girl into doing just about anything – that’s me saying that, not him although I’m pretty sure he’d agree) He said that if a pimp is true to the game he will follow the rules…oh man there is so much I can’t go into it all now.
But he also spoke about how strippers are the worst (except they THINK they’re better than everyone else in the sex industry) – strippers show their bodies on a stage for a bunch of men for tips – and that basically the club owners are pimping them and taking most of their money except half the tips…
He also asked about the class (Reaching out to Pimps and Prostitutes) on Sunday again… he was wondering what kind of people would be attending the class… he was curious about coming but he didn’t want to if there would be people who were judgmental towards pimps would be there. He didn’t say it exactly in those words, but that’s pretty much what he was saying.
We told him that mostly people like us would be there, people from church or different churches… he said that because he is (and I QUOTE) “I’m trying to walk away from the lifetsyle, I would be very interested in helping you guys do what you’re doing to discourage people from getting into the lifestyle. I NEVER want to glamourize what we do because there’s nothing good about it, it’s WRONG.” WOW!!! PRAISE GOD!
My friend Kristi who used to lead the outreach with me at the Dream Center just wrote me yesterday and wrote “Just to think not very long ago he was hard as stone” – most of you do not know how he was a few years ago – his coming to church is HUGE, his whole attitude change… he used to be somewhat defensive when I’d bring up the whole pimping issue, and now he is talking about it and not defending it anymore, even saying that it is WRONG!!!! This is huge! God is so good!
So he may come to the class Sunday… which may be a bit awkward, but that’s okay – maybe he’ll even be willing to share a bit, we’ll see. He wants to go with me to see Charity speak at Mosaic after the class at 5pm, I’m riding with Charity’s cousin if Daryl’s too tired to go with me. I also want to invite him to come with Daryl and I to Huntington beach when I share my testimony at this church – ‘Sanctuary’ I believe it’s called.
I’m excited to go on outreach tonight. Last week I got up to go out and couldn’t get Daryl out of bed. Poor guy, he was exhausted from all the running around. So was I, but anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to outreach – I have to be near death to miss it – literally! Lol!
Please continue praying for G – he still said he’s working on the ‘Jesus Issue.’ (Believing in Jesus as the only way to God.) Deliver him Lord!!! Thanks…
