God is good, all the time…

Well, I FORCED myself to get up today. I was craving a carrot/orange juice and some HEALTHY, RAW food. My favorite restaurant at the moment and for the last few weeks since Daryl and I discovered it – is CRU, in Silverlake on Griffith Park Blvd. It’s an all RAW, ORGANIC, VEGAN restaurant. I LOVE it!

The food is amazing – it’s hard to believe how creative they are preparing the food and how AMAZING the food tastes! It’s a bit pricey but it is so worth it. I’m really leaning towards going raw – and as much organic as possible. I feel so much better when I eat that way.

But I was bummed to remember while I was already on the bus that CRU is closed on Tuesdays. Waaah. So, I settled with EAT WELL on Sunset, then got back on the bus and went to the bank. In spite of my back feeling like a truck ran over me and everytime the bus went over a bump and bounced around I had to hold back from moaning because my of my stiff neck… I believe that forcing myself to go out was a good thing…

There was a long line so I filled out my deposit slip and thought I was gonna pass out while I was waiting. This weather really does me no good! When I finally got to the teller, after my transaction she asked me if I wanted to apply for a credit card with no annual fee. I said sure, cause I already have one but it has an annual fee so I can trash that one and use the one with no fee. We never use it anyway unless we are sure that we will be able to pay it off before we get any interest charges.

While she was filling out the application for me, she asked who my employer was. I told her AFTER HOURS, and she brightened up – she said, “What is that? I’ve heard of that” I don’t know where she thinks she heard of us but I pulled out a “Reaching out to Pims and Prostitutes” brochure and gave it to her. She almost busted out laughing. “Really?” I told her that yes, we go out on the streets at 3am and minister to pimps and prostitutes. She said that was neat. Then she complemented me on my hair (if she only knew) and I gave her one of my tracts too.

I think she may have heard of AFTER HOURS from one of her co-workers who asked me the same thing the last time I was at the bank.

Anyway, over the weekend Daryl and I spoke at a church in Pomona. It was all African American – I LOVE black churches. They really know how to get down. I love their worship! It was great, we had such a great time. They were SO suportive of AFTER HOURS and we were just so blessed being able to speak there and fellowship with everyone there.

Our friend Richard who works with my old Judge, Stephen Marcus – invited us to speak at his church a couple of months ago. Richard said that he had recently had lunch with Judge Marcus and that the Judge said to Richard, “I’m not as spiritual as you are, but God or ‘someone’ must have put that tree there for Laurie to hit before she hit the ground.” PRAY FOR JUDGE MARCUS TO BE SAVED!!!

Richard had asked me on the way to the church how Daryl and I felt that God was putting so many black people in our lives. I hadn’t really thought about it before… although I’ve been praying for more opportunities to speak at black churches. He’s been answering that paryer! I love it – the more multi-cross-cultural the better! As far as color goes – I feel like we should as Christians all be color blind – except to appreciate one anothers uniqueness!

God is so good, and I am going to be up and around in no time, in Jesus’ Name.
